Conclusion of Pedro Ruiz Gallo 10785 School Water Project – Peru
The project was to provide running water to the Pedro Ruiz Gallo 10785 School by purchasing and installing an electric pump.
I am writing to thank you for funding my project here in the community of Sincape, Olmos, Lambayeque, Peru. I am happy to say that a new pump has been successfully installed and there is now running water in the local school, Pedro Ruiz Gallo 10785.
The summer school classes with water and hygiene education were also a success and the kids had a wonderful time making hand washing “taps” out of water bottles and getting soaps to keep their hands clean.
Purchasing and installing the pump was a process involving finding the right pump, with involvement of school officials. Afterward, involved parents and I took time searching for someone to install the pump, as well as collecting funds to pay for the work and any needed parts for installation. We were recently lucky enough to find someone to install the pump as a donation to the town, without charge.
The water in the school is already leading to positive changes and positive attitudes among the students and staff. Having available water has already sparked the development of tree planting and compost projects that involve all of the classrooms. I am very excited to be a part of the change that can come about, and that time that is saved, now that water flows directly to the school grounds.
We wish to thank Carolyn for completing this great project. We also wish to again thank The Soneva SLOW LIFE Trust for providing the funding for this project and friends and family of Carolyn for providing additional funds for projects in Peru.
